About the Competition

The National Moot Court Competition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law stands as a beacon in the legal landscape, serving as a platform for passionate legal enthusiasts to delve into the intricate and pressing issues pertaining to human rights and constitutional law.

Through this competition, Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur, aims to cultivate a generation of legal professionals and scholars equipped with meticulous legal research, critical analysis, persuasive writing, and eloquent oral advocacy skills. These skills transcend the boundaries of the traditional academic curriculum, providing practical knowledge that is indispensable in the real world of legal practice.

  • About NHRC

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is an independent body of the Indian government with the responsibility of advancing and protecting human rights. It is a statutory body recognized in the Indian Constitution that was founded in 1993 in accordance with the “Protection of Human Rights Act”, which was amended in the year 2006 and further amended in the year 2019.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Students duly enrolled and pursuing full-time 5 years or 3 years of undergraduate law courses may apply to participate in this competition.
  2. Students enrolled and pursuing a post-graduate diploma or short-term certificate courses in law are not eligible to apply.
  3. Students from any University/Department/Institute not recognized by the Bar Council of India, to impart law degrees are not eligible to apply.

Team Size

Three members per team (two speakers and one researcher).

Prizes

  • Winners: Rs. 40,000
  • Runners Up: Rs. 30000
  • Best Researcher: Rs. 10000
  • Best Orator (Female): Rs. 10000
  • Best Orator (Male): Rs. 10000
  • Best Memorial (Respondent): Rs. 10000
  • Best Memorial (Applicant): Rs. 10000
  • In addition to the prizes mentioned above the Best Orator – Male, Best Orator – Female and Best Researcher will be awarded one year of access to EBC Learning worth Rs. 14,500 each.

Registration Process

Registration Process for the 33rd All India Moot Court Competition:

  1. Provisional Registration: Teams are required to complete their provisional registration by January 4, 2024, available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSercqp9yFRncJdD3d80EZ5hyLOXUJBhnr_k-PtOORhEHb8BTg/viewform
  2. Team Registration: Following the memorial evaluation rounds, qualifying teams must finalize their registration for the NHRC-SLS Nagpur National Moot Court Competition 2024 by January 25, 2024. The registration link is https://forms.gle/vNDJX4y6Bfd53xWi8
  3. Registration Fee: Teams that qualify for the memorial rounds must submit a registration fee of INR 5000/- for the final registration through online bank transfer. Details for the bank transfer will be communicated to the registering universities post provisional registration. The online bank transfer receipt should be attached to the registration form.
  4. Team Codes: Successfully registered teams will receive team codes via their respective emails. Teams are advised not to display or include the names or logos of their institution in any communication(s) to the organizers or in memorials/material submitted for the competition. Non-compliance may result in penalties.
