About the Competition

In an effort to enhance the quality of legal education in India, Manipal Law School (MLS), Bengaluru, has announced the inception of the Dr. TMA Pai International Technology Arbitration Moot Competition 2024, scheduled to take place from March 30th to 31st, 2024.

At the core of this moot competition lies the exploration of the intersection between technology and arbitration, serving as a crucible for legal expertise. In an age marked by rapid technological progress, the conventional boundaries of dispute resolution have expanded, making the synergy of law and technology essential.

This competition offers a timely opportunity to delve into the intricacies of Tech Arbitration, where legal minds are not only tasked with addressing substantive legal issues but also with navigating the complex terrain of cybersecurity, data protection, and the admissibility of electronic evidence.

About the Organizer

Manipal Law School, part of MAHE Bengaluru, has established itself as the go-to destination for aspiring young minds looking to enter the legal profession, particularly in the field of Technology Law. The Law School’s primary goal is to become the premier institution for acquiring knowledge and skills essential to excel in Technology Law.

The Centre for Post-Graduate Legal Studies at MLS, MAHE Bengaluru, introduces groundbreaking Master of Law (LLM) programs that focus on Data Privacy and Cyber Law, as well as Information Technology Law.

Recent initiatives, such as the roundtable conference on cybercrimes held on October 17, 2023, and the Indian Data Protection Summit 2023 themed “Emerging Technologies and Privacy” on November 24th-25th, 2023, reflect their commitment to providing students with up-to-date knowledge in technology law.

At MLS, MAHE Bengaluru, the emphasis is on preparing graduates for the legal landscape of the future. A future where amicable modes of dispute resolution will be preferred over adversarial ones, and technological advancements will not only shape the industry but also influence everyday lives.

Eligibility Criteria

Students from any law school in India or abroad, currently enrolled in three-year or five-year integrated courses (such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LL.B), or holding an equivalent degree, are eligible to participate in the upcoming competition.

Team Size

Each participating team shall consist of three members i.e. Two Speakers and One Researcher. Only 16 teams shall be registered for the Competition.

Awards & Prizes

  • Winner: INR 1,50,000
  • Runner Up: INR 50,000
  • Best Speaker: INR 20,000
  • Best Researcher: INR 20,000
  • Best Memorandum: INR 20,000
  • All participating teams will be provided with a certificate of participation.

Registration Process

  1. Fill the Registration Form: Interested participants are required to complete the registration process by filling out the registration form. The form is available at the following link: Registration Form
  2. Acknowledgment from the Institute: The institute will acknowledge the receipt of the duly filled registration form by responding to the participating team. This acknowledgment serves as confirmation of successful registration.
  3. Unique Team Code Assignment: After the registration deadline lapses, the organizing committee will respond to each registered team. Each team will be assigned a unique team code, which will serve as the team’s identifier throughout the competition.

Registration Fee

  • Indian Teams: The registration fee for Indian Teams is INR 4500/-. This amount is applicable for teams representing institutions within India.

  • International Teams: For International Teams participating from abroad, the registration fee is 150 USD.

Please note that the registration fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. It is advisable for participants to carefully consider their commitment before completing the registration process.
